Law and order: Tight security ordered during Muharram

The DCOs should monitor campaigns against polio and dengue fever

LAHORE: Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal has directed divisional commissioners to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram. He was presiding over a commissioners’ conference at Civil Secretariat on Monday. Security for Muharram, local government elections, steps for eradication of dengue fever and polio, a survey of cotton and rice crops and matters related to education and health were discussed. The chief secretary said that protection of life and property were the government’s priority. He ordered stringent security measures for mosques and imambargahs. Gondal ordered that the code of conduct for local government elections be enforced strictly. The DCOs should monitor campaigns against polio and dengue fever.” The IGP; secretaries for Home, Education, Local Government, Mines and Services Departments; the Punjab Information Technology Board chairman and the CCPO attended the meeting.
