KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief and spiritual leader of the Hur Jamaat, Pir Pagara, has announced unconditional support for Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza, the former Sindh home minister and now one of the biggest rivals of Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.

Pagara visited Mirza's residence to offer condolences over the demise of the latter's father. Former National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza and Sindh Assembly lawmaker, Barrister Hasnain Mirza, were also present at the occasion.

Speaking to the media, Pagara said that his party supported Dr Mirza not just for the local government elections, but at every level. He said that the PPP had ruined the country, adding that it was limited to just Sindh now. He claimed that everyone knew how the PPP came into power and how it had stolen the mandate in the 2008 and 2013 general elections.

On the question of former president Pervez Musharraf's alleged involvement in the Benazir Bhutto murder case, Pagara said: "Musharraf was not involved in her murder," he said, adding that Musharraf lost power because of her murder. “People know who benefited from her murder”.

Speaking about the future of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, Pagara said that cases are registered against him in London and Pakistan and that the MQM chief had given statements against the Pakistan Army and the state.
