International cricket in the country

Letter October 03, 2015
PCB should organise more international events because our youth eagerly awaits more outlets for entertainment

SKARDU: Extremism, poverty, corruption, illiteracy, economic crisis, political chaos and a poor law and order situation are all reasons why Pakistan is considered to be one of the world’s most dangerous countries. After the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2008, the International Cricket Council shut the door on international events in Pakistan. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was recently able to host Zimbabwe for a One-Day International and Twenty20 series. Now, the country’s women’s team is involved in playing a limited-overs series against their counterparts from Bangladesh.

Young women from colleges across Karachi were invited to the stadium and watched the first match with much excitement. The PCB should organise more such international events because our youth eagerly awaits more outlets for entertainment.
