LAHORE:

Strict action must be taken against proscribed outfits employing social media to collect hides on Eid, Minhajul Quran (MuQ) chairman Hassan Mohiyuddin Qadri said on Wednesday.

He made the remarks at a joint meeting of the central executive committees of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and the MuQ. Qadri said it was the government’s responsibility to ensure that such outfits were not allowed to function in the nation. He said it was disturbing to know that they had been functioning under new names. Qadri said the outfits had been employing social media to collect hides on Eid.

The MuQ chairman said such forces were the primary patrons of anti-state elements. He said it was imperative to take action against them under the National Action Plan against terrorism. Qadri said stopping budgetary allocations for the National Counterterrorism Authority (NACTA) was the only action that the government had taken in this regard. He said it had also failed to bring all intelligence agencies on the same page.
