Ten things about fat people

Letter December 27, 2010
In any case, my question to the writer of the article is that since when did ‘fat’ become a bad word?

LAHORE: This is with reference to an article in your Sunday magazine titled “10 things I hate about fat people” by Mariam Tariq. I am afraid not only is that article offensive, it’s not even well-written or funny. I mean the main point behind having such pieces is that they should, at least, be humorous, but this one wasn’t at all.

In any case, my question to the writer of the article is that since when did ‘fat’ become a bad word? In any case I don’t understand why pieces have to be written using people’s appearances. From reading the said article, the impression I got was that the writer was upset that she couldn’t go around calling people ‘fat’ because they (the people who are ‘fat’) would get offended!
