ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the Joint Action Committee of all the federal hospitals met the Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday.     

The delegation headed by MNA Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, included Dr Sajjad, Dr Sartaj Ali, Dr Gul Mohammad, Sharif Khattak, Raja Mohammad Ilyas, Riaz Gujjar, Sher Mohammad Hazara, Malik Qaiser, Dr Yousuf and Shabbir Tanuli.

A day earlier the doctors and paramedics of the federal hospitals had announced to call off their strike after they were assured that the finance minister would meet the Joint Action Committee.

The delegation apprised the minister of their demands.

Dar assured the delegation that all their genuine demands would be accorded due consideration.

The parties then agreed to hold another meeting on Saturday to have detailed deliberations on the demands of the Joint Action Committee.

After meeting the Finance Minister, members of the Joint Action Committee said they would announce end to their sit-in.

The protest held by the doctors and paramedics of the federal public hospitals had entered its third day on Thursday.  Out-patient departments (OPDs) of Polyclinic Hospital, Capital Development Authority Hospital, NIRM remained closed on Thursday however, the administration of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences backed out from the protest.

Pims top management had deputed police personnel at the hospital to so any untoward event could be averted and no doctor or paramedic could be forced to participate in the sit-in.
