Police have caught a man in possession of hundreds of CNICs and other Pakistani identification documents, as well as Afghan citizenship cards, issued by the government of Afghanistan. The suspect was posing as the assistant director of the Election Commission of Pakistan, police said.


Police recovered more than 500 CNICs, old Pakistan ID Cards, Afghan citizenship cards and forged documents like domiciles and PRCs of various districts of Balochistan from the Gwalmandi residence of the suspect identified as Tajuddin Haq.


SHO Gwalmandi Qadir Baloch said Haq was a permanent resident of Pishin district that borders Afghanistan. Baloch told newsmen that the accused was operating a network that arranged CNICs for the illegal immigrants from Afghanistan in no time, suggesting that he had very strong links within the NADRA offices.
