Healthcare: 1,002 people diagnosed with dengue this year

From January, 2015, till September, 2015, as many as 1,002 people were reported to have been infected by the dengue virus, out of which three patients have died, announced Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar in a statement on Wednesday.


According to him, 155 patients in Karachi, three in Hyderabad, three in Lahore and one in Ghotki, had been diagnosed with dengue fever during August 31 till September 6. "Due to effective measures taken by [the] Sindh health department, in collaboration with other departments and stakeholders, a decrease has been witnessed in the patients of dengue," he stated, adding that the Sindh health department has provided better facilities of treatment for the patients of dengue.


Moreover, Sindh Dengue Prevention and Control Programme manager Dr Masood Solangi has said that awareness drive against dengue virus is in full swing and the drive is currently going on in Hyderabad and other districts of Sindh.
