Defence Day celebrations: Air show thrills spectators

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1965 Pakistan-India war, a thundering air show was held in the capital by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), enthralling residents and spectators alike.

Most gathered at the F-9 Fatima Jinnah Park for a clear view. Some thronged parking lots in sectors F-10 and F-8, while many took to their rooftops.



The air show began in clear skies on Sunday with a low flyby of PAF jets; showcasing aerobatics, trailing multi-coloured smoke and releasing dazzling fireworks.

Aircraft on display included the JF-17 Thunder, F-16 Falcon, K-8 Advanced Jet Trainers, Mirage fighters, along with Ecureuil and Puma helicopters. Ending the show were a large number of paratroopers free-falling, then descending by parachutes in patterned movements, leaving spectators spellbound.



PAF also held an aerial and static display of aircraft and ammunition at the PAF Base Nur Khan in Rawalpindi.
