PESHAWAR:

Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Inomata visited Jalozai camp with Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan to review living conditions of the displaced families who had received support from Japan through the UNDP and World Food Programme.

This was stated in a handout issued on Thursday. According to the document, Japan had given US$5 million as grant for the distribution of food and provision of nutrition services to the IDPs in Jalozai camp. It had also supported the IDPs through UNDP vocational training, social cohesion, and community infrastructure rehabilitation programmes. Moreover, after the devastating floods of 2010, Japan became the largest donor of the Jalozai Humanitarian Response Facility (HRF), preparing people for natural disasters through the installation of weather surveillance radars and strengthening of flood warning and management capacities.
