PESHAWAR:

Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan has urged lawyers to provide a legal cover to the underprivileged sections of society and address their problems within a short period of time.

This was stated in a handout issued on Wednesday. According to the document, Mehtab was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Kohat Bar Association at Governor House, Peshawar on Tuesday.

“Peace and prosperity can only be achieved through the rule of law and lawyers can play a pivotal role in this respect,” the statement quoted Mehtab as saying. “Kohat Bar Association has the capacity to resolve legal disputes and ensure justice is served.”

The governor advised lawyers who took oath to fulfil their responsibilities with commitment and dedication. “Democracy is hinged on the judiciary’s freedom,” stated the handout. “The governor said he will take all necessary steps to meet the demands of lawyers.”
