Keeping it clean: Crackdown against food adultrators ongoing

BAHAWALPUR: Action against food outlets and milk shops selling inferior quality edibles in south Punjab districts continue as several shops were sealed and dozens were fined on Monday and Tuesday. The government has announced that special courts will be set up at the district level to deal with such cases.

Relevant authorities in Rahim Yar Khan have been notified about setting up courts in this regard.



The Rahim Yar Khan District Food Authority sealed two milk sale points on Hospital Road for selling inferior quality milk. A butcher’s shop was sealed and 100kg of inferior quality meat was disposed of. Owners of two restaurants on Hospital Road were fined thousands of rupees for having improper cleanliness arrangements.

In Khanpur, Assistant Commissioner Chaudhry Abdul Ghaffar raided Sargodha Hotel and fined its owners Rs10,000 for unhygienic conditions. In Liaquatpur, Assistant Commissioner Zahoor Hussain and District Health Officer Imran Jatoi fined Punjab Barbeque, Bismillah Hotel Taranda Muhammad Panah, Mianwali Hotel on KLP Road and Saghar Sweet Taranda Muhammad Panah Rs20,000 each for serving inferior quality food.
