The decision taken by Multan region to assign wicketkeeper-batsman, Kamran Akmal, the captaincy for the Haier Q8 T20 Cup 2015-16 has faced a lot of criticism from the players, reported Express News.

According to sources, Kamran - who hails from Lahore - was preferred over Sohaib Maqsood, Muhammad Irfan, Rahat Ali and Zulfiqar Babar even after the players belonged to the Multan region.

Meanwhile, Imran Farhat has also been added into the team as a guest player from Lahore.

The reason for the appointment of Kamran, as quoted by an Express reporter, is to lead the team to victory in the championship.

Regional and club cricketers have expressed their dissent over the decision while the tall left-arm fast-bowler, Muhammad Irfan, has reportedly moved to Lahore Lions to represent the team alongside Pakistan ODI captain Azhar Ali.

Howeverm, the battle for the final two spots of the Haier National T20 Championship will begin on Tuesday at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

A total of eight regional teams, divided into two groups, will contest in the qualifying round, which will be held from September 1 to September 5.
