One killed, three injured in Bajaur Agency blast

Explosion caused by IED, no group has claimed responsibility thus far

An explosion in Bajaur Agency's Khar area Monday, has killed a tribal leader while three others, including a minor, received injuries.

According to initial reports, the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) at the agency headquarters of Bajaur Agency.

"The explosion occurred when an IED device planted near a roadside went off," a political administrative official confirmed.

He further added that a tribal leader, Qadir Khan, succumbed to his injuries while he was being shifted to the hospital.

"The injured, Malik Waseed Khan, Gulab and a minor, Safia have been shifted to Khar agency's headquarter hospital for treatment," he said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area as a search operation has commenced in the area.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack thus far.

Last week, at least two tribal leaders and a minor were killed while two others were injured, also in an IED blast conducted by Islamic State in Bajaur Agency’s Utmankhel Tehsil area.
