ISLAMABAD: The counsel for Bahria Town, Barrister Aitizaz Ahsan, through an application filed with the Supreme Court, has pleaded for a three-week adjournment of hearing on a case regarding illegal acquisition of land and destruction of forests.

Earlier, Muhammad Shafi had filed a case against Bahria Town and DHA in the Supreme Court, which fixed hearing for tomorrow (Monday).

The Punjab forest department, meanwhile, presented 292 documents covering 1129 pages in three volumes, in compliance with the court order dated August 21. These documents were based on public records and this is the first time they have been presented during the proceedings.

The application for deferment states that the counsel for the respondent only received these documents upon his return from abroad on August 28, and therefore, he and the relevant parties request time to be able to give their responses.

The application further states that since barrister Aitizaz Ahsan will represent Pakistan in the inter-parliament union conference scheduled from August 31 to September 2, the proceedings be delayed for three weeks.

Sodomite | 8 years ago | Reply No need for long adjournments. Lawyers like Ahsan are experts in delaying tactics and know that CJ Khawaja does not give adjournments. He wants the case to be deferred until a new CJ is appointed and Ahsan can delay and frustrate the proceedings to muddy the waters on corruption at Bahria.
