KARACHI:

Given the large number of street crimes being reported near Do Darya on Sea View, the provincial home minister, Sohail Anwar Khan Siyal, urged officials to immediately set up a police station at Sea View.

Siyal was visiting the Karachi Police Office on Wednesday when he issued these directives. He asked the authorities to submit a report on the construction of the Sea View police station by Wednesday night.

He also gave orders for the immediate constitution of a committee to identify vacancies in the police department and to publish reports on shortfalls. "All the vacancies in the police department will be filled as soon as possible," he assured. "The government is also going for 10,000 more vacancies for the police department in the current financial year."

He also issued directives for the establishment of a high power board at the Central Police Office, under the chairmanship of Sindh IG to examine all policies, financial and administrative matters of the police department.
