ISLAMABAD:

In an attempt to engage the masses, PPP has decided to launch a campaign against the government for neglecting the farmer community of Pakistan.

The decision was taken during a party meeting held here on Tuesday chaired by the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto.

In the first phase PPP members in the National Assembly and the Senate plan to agitate the parliament and highlight the plight of farmers through parliamentary motions.

Bilawal started a much-delayed campaign to meet party members and flew down to district and tehsil level in the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Bilawal, who reached Islamabad a day earlier, met party office-bearers representing the city and district chapters of Faisalabad during the day and from K-P in the evening. He plans on meeting office-bearers from Kasur and Nankana Sahib on Wednesday.

According to the media cell of PPP participants expressed grave concern over the plight of farmers in Punjab. They stressed the need for evolving a strategy to rescue the farmers from starvation as a result of the policies pursued by the Nawaz regime.
