GUJRANWALA/ NANKANA SAHIB: A naib muharrar of Warburton police station in Nankana Sahib on Monday night sexually assaulted a boy arrested for stealing a cell phone, police said.

Police said that the naib muharrar had taken the boy from the lock up to another room for questioning. Other cops at the police station heard the boy screaming in the room and gathered there.

The boy told SHO Muhammad Yaqoob that the naib muharrar had sexually assaulted him. The SHO reported the matter to Nanakana Sahib DPO Shehzad Sultan who visited the police station and suspended the official.

Separately, in Gujranwala, three men raped a 10-year-old boy on Tuesday. The boy’s father, a worker at a brick kiln in the area, filed a complaint with Aroop police that three men had abducted his child and raped him in the fields. He said they had also videotaped the assault.

The complainant told The Express Tribune that Investigation Officer Ali Sher had told him to withdraw his complaint and had threatened him with dire consequences in case he did not.

Responding to the allegation, Sher said he had done no such thing. He said he had told the suspect’s family to hand him over to the police in two days.
