Pitching in: Balochsitan MPAs vow to support family planning

At least 15 lawmakers of Balochistan Assembly have pledged to actively support policies and programmes for improved family planning services.


They came to the conculsion following a briefing on the present demographic status of the province and its immediate implications in Balochistan with special reference to the negative indicators on high maternal and infant mortality rates.


The briefing was arranged by Population Council, an international research and advocacy forum, with the support of UNFPA. The council works closely with the federal and provincial governments to undertake research activities in the area of reproductive health.


MPAs Izhar Hussain Khosa, Jan Mohammad Jamali, Dr Ruqayya Hashmi, Rahila Durrani, Agha Liaqat Ali, Abdul Malik Kakar, William Barkat,  Dr Shama Ishaq, Spozmi Achakzai, Masooma Hayat, Rahat Jamali, Husun Bano, Kishwar Ahmad, Arifa Siddiq and Samina Khan were present at the briefing.
