Heinous crime: Commissioner vows to punish gang-rape suspects

Commissioner Saqib Zafar said on Tuesday that those involved in the heinous gang-rape of a 13-year-old child in Chak 2-P in Jhatta Bhatta would not go scot-free.


He was speaking to newsmen at the residence of the child who had committed suicide on Friday after being left crestfallen at the attitude of law enforcement agencies. Zafar said the incident was “heartwrenching.”

National Assembly Member (MNA) Sheikh Fayyazuddin said SI Imtiaz had been incarcerated. He vowed not to rest till the rest of the suspects involved in the episode had been brought to justice. Fayyazuddin said those involved in the case would not go scot-free. The lawmaker gave Rs50,000 compensation to the father of the deceased.

RPO Ehsan Sadiq said black sheep in the department would be exposed and prosecuted. He said justice would be served. Rahim Yar Khan DPO Tariq Mastoi and MNA Fayazuddin later told newsmen at the Khanpur DSP’s office that two FIRs had been registered against SI Imtiaz following a directive by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and that he had been arrested.
