KARACHI:

Enemies of any worship place are the enemies of humanity and peace, said Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) general-secretary Liaquat Baloch, condemning the attacks on non-Muslim places of worship.

He was speaking at an event to pay tribute to the people of different religions of the city organised by JI at the party's Karachi central office on Sunday.

By attacking non-Muslim places of worship, the perpetrators tried to derail Pakistan from the way of prosperity but the unity among the minority and Muslim citizens foiled their scheme, he said.

Baloch called for equal rights for the minority citizens of Pakistan. He said JI will fight for the rights of minority citizens and for all those citizens who are living in the country because Pakistan is everyone's home.

Hindu representative Dr J Paul Kapoor said he has been with the JI for a very long time because of the party's good policies about the minorities.
