A man was axed to death over a land dispute while a girl died of electrocution in two different incidents in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Sunday.


In the first incident, Muhammad Ishaq allegedly killed his uncle, identified as Babrah, with an axe over a land dispute in the Tatapani area of Rawalakot. The police arrested the suspect after a raid on a hideout where he had taken shelter after committing the crime, said police officials.

In the second incident, a 16-year-old girl was electrocuted in Kotli District. According to the police, Ireeba Butt, a first-year student, died of an electric shock after she came in contact with a live wire while fixing a fault in a home appliance.

She was rushed to the district headquarters hospital Kotli where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the Kotli police have arrested two Afghans for staying in the area without proper documents. The arrested persons were identified as Rasul Khan and Najeebullah.

The police shifted them to the local police station for further investigation. The police also arrested the owner of the house where they were staying.
