LAHORE:

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and Turkish waste management companies held a fleet march across the city on Thursday to mark Independence Day celebrations.

A Jashan-i-Azadi Caravan equipped with a sound system and banners carrying Independence Day slogans took off from Egerton Road, passed through Charing Cross, Istanbul Chowk, Data Darbar, Azadi Bridge and ended at Minar-i-Pakistan.

The LWMC, Albayrak and Ozpak set up camps at Charing Cross to distribute souvenirs and pamphlets among visitors to spread the message of cleanliness. LWMC Head of Communication Department Jamil Khawar led the caravan.

LWMC Managing Director Khalid Majeed said the idea was to urge citizens not to forget sanitation workers on Independence Day. He said keeping surroundings clean was the best gift one could give their country.
