KARACHI: Former 6-red Asian Champion Muhammad Asif lost the semi-final 4-5 to the Chinese 15-year old wonder kid Yan Bingtao on Tuesday to strike Pakistan out of the contention of winning the IBSF World 6-Red championship being held in Karachi.

Asif started confidently against the teenager with three straight frame wins in the best-of-nine semi-final.

Bingtao then made a comeback and beat Asif in the fourth frame to make a comeback.

Asif won the fifth frame and was in contention of facing Indian Pankaj Advani in the final when Bingtao turned the tables on him and won four straight frames to book a spot in the final.

Earlier, Advani beat Asjad Iqbal of Pakistan with the same 4-5 scoreline to book a spot in final.

Asjad started the game by winning the first two frames. Advani struck back strongly and took three consecutive frames to make it 3-2. Asjad bagged the sixth frame, Advani the seventh and Asjad made it 4-4 with a win in the eight frame.

When it all came down to the final frame, Advani was the one who broke loose and beat Asjad 52-14 to enter the final.
