Research project: SPDC’s study on disaster prone areas

KARACHI: Social Policy and Development Centre (SPDC) held a dissemination workshop to share the key findings of a three-year research project ‘Gender and social vulnerability to climate change: A study of disaster prone areas of Sindh.’ The research project was funded by the International Development Research Centre, Canada. Under the project, SPDC looked into the gender dimensions of socio-economic vulnerability to climate change among rural communities of disaster prone areas in Sindh and assessed the adaptive capacity of people at community level. The aims, background, methodology and key findings of the study were also shared in the workshop, to initiate dialogues among the participants. The SPDC will have a series of dissemination seminars in selected districts. SPDC has already conducted the dissemination seminars in all the four disaster prone districts, which are Badin, Dadu, Thatta and Tharparkar.
