ABBOTABAD: Three people, including a woman, were shot dead in different areas of Hazara Division, said the police on Sunday. A fatal case of snake bite was also reported.

A murder was reported from Qazi Maira village in Havelian tehsil. Unidentified assailants barged into Ibrahim Nawaz’s house and shot his wife Saeeda Bibi, 26, dead. Nawaz was out for Fajr prayer at the village mosque and upon his return found his wife critically injured. He took her to the rural health centre in Havelian but died before she could receive medical aid. Nawaz told the police he has no enemies.

In Sathana village of Ghazi tehsil a man was shot dead over a dispute related to marriage. Police said Ilyas, a villager, was at his house with his paternal uncle Sajjad when two of his relatives knocked on the door and called Ilyas out.

They opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. The motive behind the murder was reported to be a marriage dispute between two families.

A fatal decision

A teenager committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. Police quoted Qalandar Khan as saying his son Zulfiqar, 17, was fond of keeping pigeons and his hobby was distracting him from his studies and other important chores.

His father said he scolded Zulfiqar on Saturday evening for not paying attention to farming and spending most of his time playing with the pigeons. The boy got upset, went to his room and hanged himself from the ceiling fan. He could not get first aid and died before reaching a hospital.

A poisonous snake bit a woman in Jaskot Oghi village. Police said Nargis Bibi, 43, was on her way to her house after giving tea to her husband Zarwesh at a farm when a snake bit her left foot. She was taken to a hospital but succumbed to the toxin en route to the hospital.
