Money in hand, DJ Butt buries hatchet with PTI

In order to settle dispute, PTI pays Rs2.5 million to Butt

Muhammad Asif aka DJ Butt, an entertainer whose beats punctuated political rhetoric at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in in Islamabad last year was finally paid Rs2.5 million by the party on Saturday.

In order to settle the dispute between the entertainer and the party, PTI paid Butt Rs2.5 million against his demand for Rs80 million.

"In consideration as agreed herein lump sum payment to DJ Butt, he completely releases and forever discharges PTI, of and from any and all past, present or future claims, demands, obligations, actions, causes of action, rights, damages, costs, loss of services, expenses and compensation, on account of, or in any way growing out of the above said services provided to PTI. Furthermore, PTI hereby withdraw the notice issued to DJ Butt regarding repayment of excess amount paid to him," a letter sent by PTI Central Finance Department and signed by DJ Butt read.

"In consideration of the release set forth above, PTI hereby agrees to pay and DJ Butt agrees to accept Rs2.5 million as full and final settlement of his claim," the letter added.

Earlier, PTI had rejected that they owed Butt the aforementioned amount, rather they vowed to take him to court if he failed to prove his claim.

On July 6, the entertainer claimed that the party owed him Rs80 million for his services at the PTI's Islamabad sit-in last year. “My total payment for playing music was Rs140 million but I was paid only Rs60 million,” DJ Butt had said.

Further, Punjab Revenue Authority had issued a tax notice to DJ Butt for Rs17 million and summoned him on July 23 for neither registering himself nor paying due sales tax to Punjab government.

Butt has been working with the party since 2010.

Munir | 8 years ago | Reply The cheque is issued to DJ Butt which means that this guy Muhammad Asif probably has a bank account titled "DJ Butt" too. Is that possible? Do banks open accounts on alias names?
