University of Central Punjab: 264 get their degrees today at Expo Centre

Degrees in commerce, engineering, information technology and management studies to be awarded by Governor Taseer.

LAHORE: The University of Central Punjab (UCP) will hold its 9th convocation on Tuesday (today) at the Expo Centre where 264 students will graduate in various disciplines. Rehearsals for the convocation were held at the same venue on Monday.

Degrees in commerce, engineering, information technology and management studies will be formally awarded by Governor Salmaan Taseer, the chief guest on the occasion.

Fauzia Wahhab, the PPP information secretary, and Mian Amir Mahmood, the UCP board of governors’ chairman will join the deans at the convocation.

The Monday rehearsals were conducted under the supervision of Zaeem Yaqoob, the UCP promotion and placements director. Yaqoob said that MPhil, PhD, MSCS, MSTS, MBA, MBBF, BBA, BSEE and BSc degrees will be awarded to the students in various disciplines.

Talking to The Express Tribune he said that 15 students of the Faculty of Management had won top positions overall, giving it the highest number of position holders in the university.

The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Information Technology had three positions each.

Yaqoob said that the UCP did not fail any student. The transcripts were issued to students even with GPA less than 2.5. They can re-take the exam if they want, he said.

He said the grading was monitored to the international standards.

Adeel Khan, a BBA student, said that the great number of students attending the rehearsal showed how excited they all were for the convocation.
