LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Gujranwala, on Saturday and inquired after the health of army personnel injured in the train accident.

He prayed for the early recovery of the injured. He said he had been deeply grieved over the loss of lives in the accident. CMH Gujranwala Commandant Brig Aizaz, Station Commander Brig Mohyul Islam, Federal Minister for Industries & Commerce Khurrum Dastagir and Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Col (r) Shuja Khanzada were also present at the occasion. They briefed the chief minister about the treatment being provided to the injured.

Earlier, Sharif visited the Gujranwala’s Corps Headquarter, where he was briefed about the train accident. Corps Commander Lieutenant General Ghayur Mahmood was also present.

The chief minister was told that the rescue operation had been carried out jointly by the civil administration and the Armed Forces. An Armed Forces spokesperson lauded the timely assistance provided by officials from the district administration, the police and the Rescue 1122.

Speaking at the briefing, Sharif praised the services of the Armed Forces in the ongoing conflict with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan. He said the military operation in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) had been successful in breaking the terrorists’ network in the country.
