Risky roads: Woman killed, nine hurt in various mishaps

A woman was killed and nine others sustain injuries in separate accidents in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Saturday.


Police said that a passengers van fell into ravine, while negotiating a sharp turn near Arja Refugee Camp. The jeep was on the way to Gadray area of Bagh District around 90 kilometres from the capital city of AJK. A woman was killed in the incident.

The residents of the area rushed to the spot and pulled the injured passengers out from the wreckage of the jeep. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Bagh for treatment, where two were stated to be in critical condition.

The deceased woman was identified as Nazia Maroof and the injured were identified as Shahid, Fayaz, Noorul Huda, Edan Huda, and Sajawal.

In a separate incident, four people received injuries when two motorcyclists collided with each other near Sathra area here on Saturday.

The injured were shifted to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayad Al-Nahyan Hospital where doctors said that one person was in a critical condition.
