QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch said on Monday that the National Party (NP) led provincial government will never compromise over the rights and interest of Balochistan.

He was addressing a council session of NP in his hometown, Turbat, on Sunday.

“Despite so many challenges, even death threats, we took part in the last general elections, our party workers strived and rendered so many sacrifices… we did not get power as a gift,” he said. “As the chief minister, I assure you that I will never compromise on the rights and interest of the people of Balochistan,” he said citing the closure of Reko Dik Project. It was not an easy task to shut down the Reko Dik Project being run by Dr Samar Mubarak. The gold and copper mine deal would have deprived the Balochistan province of its due share, while bringing windfall profits to the foreign companies operating the project.
