ISLAMABAD: Balochistan law enforcement agencies suspect that the accused arrested in connection to the Imran Farooq murder case in Chaman may have been working for a Karachi-based political party.

Sources told The Express Tribune that a telephonic conversation between Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and IG Frontier Corps Balochistan revealed that the arrested suspects were in constant communication with Imran Farooq’s killers.

"Today IG FC Balochistan briefed Chaudhry Nisar on the latest development into Imran Farooq murder case over the phone," a senior FC Balochistan official told The Express Tribune.

IG FC told Nisar that though it’s difficult to determine the political association of the accused at an initial stage, “it's an in depth investigation and could lead to a political party,” an official quoted IG as saying.

“These suspects will be handed over to Sindh Rangers and intelligence agencies probing key suspects are already in their custody,” he added.

Earlier on Thursday, Frontier Corps arrested two suspects reportedly involved in MQM leader Imran Farooq’s murder from the Pakistan, Afghanistan border town of Chaman.

“The men identified as Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali were arrested on a tip-off,” a FC spokesperson said, adding that the men belong to a political party based in Karachi.

A source, however, said the men were arrested for involvement in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder.
