Experts have said that the promotion of science and technology was crucial for the country’s development.


They were speaking at the session titled “Making Pakistan Science Conscious” organised by National Institute of Vacuum Science and Technology (NINVAST) Islamabad in collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), said a press release.

NINVAST Director General Dr Javaid Bhatti gave a talk on the role of vacuum technology in interdisciplinary research and development. A documentary on Pakistan Vacuum Technology Society and its role in the establishment of NINVAST was also screened at the session.

The participants were also shown a display of vacuum technology and its applications in industries such as textile, space science, defence, vacuum pumps, information technology, and auto industry.

Speakers said that higher education in the country had received due attention in recent past but what has been neglected is the science education at school and college levels.
