PESHAWAR: The authorities of Peshawar Electric Supply Company have registered 367 FIRs in the month of May in Peshawar, Charsadda and Bannu districts against kundas, illegal use of electricity and other such offences.

Field officials should create awareness regarding the results of using direct hooks, said Pesco Chief Executive Syed Hassan Fazil during a meeting of the company’s officials at the head office in the city on Monday.

A press release issued on the same day by Pesco’s media department stated 79 FIRs have been lodged at Pesco police station in Peshawar, 176 at Pesco police station in Bannu and 112 at Pesco police station in Charsadda.

In the meeting it was decided strict measures would be taken to stop people from using illegal means for power supply. It was also stated that the use of kundas overloads the system and causes outages and power breakdowns.

The CEO maintained if the public cooperated with the company, power outages will be reduced as presently power pilferage is causing 20-hour-long outages on 132 feeders in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Operation Chief Engineer Nadeem Anwar, Pesco Peshawar Circle Superintending Engineer Muhammad Iqbal Marwat, Khyber Circle SE Bakht Zada Khan, SHOs of Pesco police stations in Peshawar and Charsadda were also in attendance at the meeting.
