Sanctity: Religious parties form united front

Major religious parties get together to launch movement to safeguard sanctity of prophethood.

ISLAMABAD: Major religious parties of the country have decided to launch a movement to safeguard the sanctity of prophethood.

Speaking at a press conference after a meeting of religious parties and the chiefs of all the five boards of religious schools, Central President of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair and leader of Jamat Ahl-i-Sunnat Pir Atiqur Rehman said that the parties have agreed to a one-point agenda of “Tahafuz-i-Namoos-i-Risalat”.

Munawwar Hasan, Fazlur Rehman, Sajid Mir, Sajid Naqvi, Mufti Muneebur Rehman, Hamidul Haq Haqqani and Qazi Hussain Ahmed were also present at the press conference. The two leaders said the meeting unanimously agreed to set up the Tehrik-i-Tahafuz-i-Namoos-i-Risalat with Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair as its convener.

The meeting decided to launch a joint struggle for which the strategy will be finalised in an All Parties Conference to be held in Islamabad on December 15.  The strategy will be announced by the action committee.
