Madam Noor Jehan's 'Sanu Nehar Wale Pul Tey' gets a makeover

The superhit song is being modified by Sona Mohapatra who sang 'ambarsariya'

NEW DELHI: As a tribute to our legendary singing sensation Madam Noor Jehan, Indian singer Sona Mohapatra has recreated the magic of one of her songs, Sanu nehar wale pul tey bula ke.

Sona has lent her voice to a modified version composed by Sumit Sethi and Paras Sunda. According to a statement, the musical duo, have revisited the song from the 1973 classic Pakistani film Dukh Sajna De.

On being asked as to why he had decided to recompose this particular song from the extensive collection of songs that Madam had made eternal, Sumit responded, “I simply loved the groove."

Paras, who has rewritten some of the lyrics of the song to give it a contemporary feel, states that the duo “agreed on a voice instantly that had the potential to go beyond the ordinary." The ambarsariya hit-maker Sona has hit the right notes, leaving her unique signature on the song.

The new version acts like a time machine as it takes one back to the bygone era. Talking about the song, Sona said, “There is a bit of all three of us in the song." Noor Jehan was accorded the 'Malika-e-Tarannum' title because of her musical expertise and vocal articulation.

Songs like Kuch log rooth kar bhi, Chandni raatein and Kala sha kala still retain a special place in the hearts of music lovers across the globe. The team will begin working on the production of the video shortly.
