Agreement: ‘Water theft to become non-bailable offence’

The MQM and the PPP have decided to amend the law and make water theft a non-bailable offence.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have decided to amend the law and make water theft a non-bailable offence.


At a meeting between the two parties' delegation at CM House on Monday, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah announced that a draft will be prepared and shared with the MQM before it is promulgated in the assembly.

The MQM delegation comprised opposition leader Khwaja Izharul Hassan, Syed Sardar Ahmed, Muhammad Hussain, MNA Kanwar Naveed Jameel and Khalid Ahmed. The chief minister was assisted by his cabinet members, Nisar Khuhro, Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Syed Murad Ali Shah and Sharjeel Memon.

The chief minister appreciated the MQM's move to come discuss the issue.
