To The Gallows: Black warrants re-issued for convicts

Due to technical reasons, the court re-issued the warrants on Saturday

KARACHI: The anti-terrorism court III re-issued on Saturday black warrants for a condemned prisoner, Khan Muhammad, who is currently imprisoned in Sargodha Jail. 28The jail authorities have been directed to hang the murder convict on May  at 4:30am, after completing the requisite legal formalities in the presence of a judicial magistrate. Khan and his accomplice, Shahid Mehmood, were sentenced to death in 1998 for killing a woman and her daughter during a robbery bid. According to the prosecution, the convicts had barged into the house of a traffic police officer, Ghulam Mustafa, and looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables. They shot a woman, Shama, and her nine-year-old daughter for putting up resistance. Their mercy pleas were rejected by the presidency in March, this year. Earlier, the court had issued black warrants for both the convicts on Thursday. Due to technical reasons, the court re-issued the warrants on Saturday, this time addressed to the Sargodha Jail authorities.
