Critics' Report: 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' on its way to becoming a smash hit!

Find out what critics and the general public have to say about the sequel of 2011 film 'Tanu Weds Manu'

Entertainment Desk May 23, 2015

The verdict is in: Kangana Ranaut's Tanu Weds Manu Returns has bowled over critics and viewers alike!

Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a continuation of Kangana's 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu which revolved around problems of a love marriage. In the first film, Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) and Manu (R Madhavan) were the perfect example of opposites falling in love, and the sequel explores whether these opposite personalities can continue to spend their lives together.

As with other films in the past, we bring to you excerpts of Tanu weds Manu Returns reviews from viewers as well as some of India's top film critics to help you decide if you should watch it or give it a miss altogether.

From Hindustan Times:
Watch Tanu Weds Manu Returns if you love Bollywood. Watch it if you follow Bollywood and if you look down upon Bollywood; watch the movie to see how entertaining the industry can be. For people outside north India, the film is an authentic portrayal of middle-class small town India. And it is funny as hell! We’d say this is a must watch.

From Rediff:

Tanu Weds Manu Returns is not merely superior to its predecessor but the flamboyance and fun it provides is an implication we're not quite done with this mad duo and their quirky universe yet.

From The Times of India:

Straight away, Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a total delight that keeps you laughing, sighing, cheering - and guessing throughout. Anand L Rai merits applause for his masterful direction of (scriptwriter) Himanshu Sharma's rich, riotous story. Evoking a new-age Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Rai keeps things tight, light, yet layered - and handles two leading ladies, one of whom deserves an extra half-star.

From Pinkvilla:

Kangana Ranaut has delivered a masterful performance in this film. Not just Kangana- R Madhavan, Jimmy Shergill, Zeeshan Ayyub, Rajesh Sharma, K K Raina- each performance fits in beautifully.  But the final toast has to be raised to its director, Anand L Rai and writer, Himanshu Sharma. Tanu Weds Manu Returns is definitely recommended to everyone; it entertains you and makes you laugh out loud.

From Bollywood Hungama:

Right from the word go, the film's director Anand L Rai successfully hits the right cord. At the onset, it may sound and look very easy to make a successful film's sequel, but real challenge lies in transforming the sequel into a goldmine at the box-office. And Anand L Rai achieves that successfully and how! Backed with an immensely believable plot, Anand L Rai helms his role of a director very successfully. There are times when you get a feeling that he has surpassed the original as far as storytelling and film presentation is concerned. It's a very wittily written film and superbly performance-oriented film.

The Twitterati too seem to have loved the film!
