ISLAMABAD: Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday renewed the government’s commitment to continue the fight against terrorism till the threat was fully eliminated.

In a statement to the media, the minister said that it was not only the commitment of the government but also of the whole nation to root out terrorism from the country.

According to him, the ultimate goal is to establish a peaceful society and ensure a common destiny of all Pakistanis.

In response to a question about the involvement of foreign elements in terrorist activities in the country, the minister said that all steps would be taken to handle these terrorists.

“Whether terrorists are foreigners or locals—whether internal or external hands are involved with the financial support of foreign elements in terrorist incidents, bloodshed or target killing—they will be dealt with iron hands.”

He said, “We need peace in Pakistan as it is the right of every Pakistani to live a peaceful life as being enjoyed by people in other parts of the world.”

He said that Pakistanis want a safe country and to achieve this objective the government will make sincere efforts both at national and international levels.

The minister clarified that there was no issue of release of funds for National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta), adding that funds were being provided in accordance with the capacity of the authority, in order to have full control over terrorism.
