KARACHI: There is a need to properly market Pakistani rice in the regional and international markets including the US, said Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Chairman Rafique Suleman. “There is good potential for Pakistani rice to get more share in the US market,” he said, while speaking at a reception hosted for US Consul General in Karachi on Wednesday. The REAP chief shared trade figures between Pakistan and US, adding that Pakistan exports approximately 20,000 to 25,000 tons of rice annually and there is still room for substantial exports to the US market. He requested the consul general to extend cooperation by sending a delegation that will market Pakistani rice. “We will also hold a biryani festival in any city of the US in order to promote the Pakistani culture,” he said.
