LAHORE:

A woman succumbed to her wounds on Sunday two weeks after she was allegedly set on fire by her husband in Ghaziabad.

A large number of her relatives staged a protest demonstration against police by placing her body in front of the Punjab Assembly. They alleged that the woman had been burned by her husband but Ghaziabad police were not registering their complaint. They dispersed after police assured them that action would be taken against her husband. Traffic remained suspended during the protest.

SHO Attique Ahmed told The Express Tribune that an early investigation had revealed that the woman was boiling milk when she received burn injuries. He said no one had filed a complaint until Sunday. They said doctors at the hospital where she had been taken to had also not informed police about her.
