One killed in Hayatabad IED blast

Police officials say the target of the blast was a security forces vehicle which remained unharmed

PESHAWAR: At least one person was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Hayatabad area of Peshawar on Tuesday.

The victim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

According to initial reports, the IED was planted on a roadside corner near Bagh Naraan.

Police officials said the target of the blast was a security forces vehicle which remained unharmed.

This is the second blast today targeting a security forces convoy in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the IED attack on a security forces convoy in which at least three security forces personnel were injured.

The security forces convoy came under attack while on Kulachi Road in Dera Ismail Khan, an Inter-Services Public Relations statement said.
