59 Pakistanis arrive from quake-hit Nepal

ISPR says Army search teams have started rescue operations in Bakhtapur and Kathmandu

In rescue efforts carried out by the armed forces, 59 Pakistanis arrived on Tuesday from Nepal, following devastating earthquake which claimed at least 4,310 lives, Express News reported. 

“59 Pakistanis will be brought back to Islamabad today by C-130 which proceeded to Nepal early morning with relief goods,” an Inter Services Public Relations earlier said in a statement

“Army search teams have started rescue operations in Bakhtapur and Kathmandu, the most affected area due to the earthquake in Nepal,” the statement added.

Pakistan Army on Tuesday sent two more C-130 aircrafts carrying a second consignment of relief goods for earthquake hit areas of Nepal from Noor Khan Airbase.

In addition to relief goods, doctors and paramedics and special engineering equipment are also being transported to Kathmandu.

Earlier on Sunday, a C-130 plane carrying 39 Pakistanis from Kathmandu arrived at the Noor Khan Airbase in Islamabad.

Further, the army and government had earlier dispatched medical teams comprising doctors and paramedics along with relief goods to Nepal.

“In line with the prime minister’s directive, two Pakistani C-130 aircraft landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu Sunday morning,” a statement issued by the Foreign Office said on Sunday.

The planes were carrying medical team of doctors and paramedics, 30-bed hospital, medicines, tents, water, dry food, search and rescue team with equipment, the statement noted.

The earthquake in Nepal has caused massive devastation of both men and material and resulted in the deaths of more than 4,310 people with more feared caught up in the debris.

Govt establishes fund for Nepal quake-affectees

The government announced on Tuesday that it had established a fund for the Nepal quake victims.

People can send their donations to the "Prime Minister's Relief Fund for Earthquake Affectees of Nepal-2015".

Donations could be submitted at all branches of the State Bank of Pakistan, treasuries and all branches of the National Bank of Pakistan and all other scheduled banks.

All proceeds received in the name of the Fund will be credited to the public account of the Federal Government under the head of account: "G 12153 Prime Minister's Relief Fund for Earthquake Affectees of Nepal-2015".
