An anti-terrorism court on Friday convicted two men of murder and sentenced them to death on six counts. Wajid Hussain and Nazim, residents of Gujrat, had abducted Shahid Mehmood of Chak 228-GB on October, 27, 2009 and demanded a ransom for his release.

Later, they killed him. After examining the evidence, the judge awarded death penalty to each man under Section 265-A of the PPC. The court also ordered forfeiture of their property.  The judge also sentenced them to death under Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and issued orders for confiscation of their property. The convicts were also awarded death penalty under Section 302-B of PPC. They were directed to pay Rs500,000 compensation to the heirs of the deceased. They were also awarded two years imprisonment under Section 201 of the PPC and each fined Rs20,000. In case of default, the convicts would have to undergo an additional imprisonment of seven months each.
