Students attempt to forcefully enter Punjab Assembly

Published: December 8, 2010

Students tried barging into the Punjab Assembly.

Students belonging to the several colleges in Lahore tried to enter the Punjab Assembly by barging in when they were baton charged by the police.

According to Express 24/7 correspondent Muhammad Rizwan, 300 to 400 students belonging to various colleges earlier blocked Mall Road for a couple of hours to protest against the privatisation of their colleges.

The students wanted to go inside the Punjab Assembly to register their protest, but the police was not letting them enter. However, later the students tried to forcefully enter the premises, which resulted in a clash between them and the security officials.

The assembly was not in session at the time of the incident.

Today on 08 December 2010, I saw these unruly students smashing the public transports busses’ wind screens with batons on the Mall road. I wondered how the driver could have escaped injuries. Are they taught to vent their greviences against the innocent people? Is this the same youth on which we place our hope? They are exploited by some aggressive agents. If the government’s policies are not effective and favorable, they should protest in a civilized manner and not in an aggressive manner. I recall Shahbaz Sharif, in his previous tenure as chief minister, misappropriated United Nations donation for education. In short, every body is corrupt. Alas! who will come to rescue this nation?Recommend
