Recruitment procedure: Retired doctors to be named on hiring committees

MSs, Health EDO and DCO will be other members of district-level committees.

LAHORE: Retired health professionals will be included in district selection committees (DSCs) for recruitment of medical officers (MOs) and woman medical officers (WMOs) at teaching hospitals across the province, Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq said on Tuesday.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Health.

Rafiq said it only those having a good reputation amongst their peers would be named on the committees.

The decision was taken on the request of a delegation of retired professionals.



Besides retired health professionals, the committee will consist of the medical superintendents of the teaching hospitals concerned, the EDOs and the DCOs. The DCOs will head the committee. Heads of department and professors of the faculty or department concerned will also be consulted.

The meeting was told that special selection committees (SSCs) had been constituted for recruitment of medical staff at the district headquarters (DHQ) hospitals.

These committees would be chaired by principals of the medical college/teaching hospital concerned. Other members of the committee would include professors of the faculty concerned, the health services director, the DCO and retired health professionals.

The meeting was also attended by Health Secretary Jawad Rafiq Malik.
