ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said Pakistan will stand by Saudi Arabia in any hour of trial.

“Pakistan’s stance is very clear as it has maintained from day one that Saudi Arabia is a brotherly country which has always supported us in difficult times, and Pakistan will not lag behind if there is any threat to Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity,” Rashid said, while talking to media on Wednesday.

The minister said Pakistan fully supports the recent UNSC resolution on Yemen and respects the decision of the international community.

“The entire nation is united on issues of national importance and parliament has demonstrated this united stance, representing the will of the people of Pakistan,” he added.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif himself issued a policy statement on Yemen the other day in which he strongly condemned actions by non-state actors in Yemen to overthrow the legitimate government and called for restoration of the legitimate government.

Responding to a question about Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia, he said Pakistan has very close relations with Riyadh and exchanges of high level visits are a matter of routine, and reflective of warm and close ties between the two brotherly states.
