LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Wednesday gave the railways secretary a month to upgrade the post of station master in the Pakistan Railways and disposed of a contempt of court petition seeking action against the railways general manager.

Earlier, the counsel for the railways general manager informed the court that a summary seeking upgrade of the post of station masters had been sent to the railways secretary. Petitioner Ali Mashhadi, the Station Masters Association president, had sought contempt of court proceedings against the railways general manager over his failure to act on a prior court directive and upgrade the post of station masters. He had said that the general manager had upgraded 11 other posts but ignored the station master’s post.

The petition stated that there were 2,353 station masters working in the Pakistan Railways.
