LAHORE:

Javed Hanif Khan, member Land Utilisation, Board of Revenue, set a new precedent when he leased six plots measuring 4,000 square yards each of government land in Sindh to his wife within a day ignoring all rules and regulations. The plots are said to be worth millions of rupees.

According to documents available to the Express Investigation Cell, the all-powerful member of Land Utilisation misused his authority while allotting high value plots without any hindrance. First these plots were leased to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and then they were leased in one day to Mrs Shahana Javed Hanif Khan sidestepping the mandatory auction process. According to sources, only a fake auction was organised and the Sindh government rules were ignored while leasing these plots to Mrs Shahana.

When Khan was contacted for his stance, he said the allotment was made to the KMC in the 80s after completing all legal requirements. He further said that perhaps these plots were allotted to his wife last year. He said his wife has purchased these plots from another person and has registered them in her own name. When asked the price of the deal of these plots he said it was a personal matter and chose not to comment on it. He refused to disclose the purchase price.
